Maroon, Black, and Gold Obi, Heavy Thick Silk and Metallic from Japan #532
This is a completed obi with a dynamic, perhaps Egyptian-inspired, design - lots of detail and bronze-gold metallic brocade work. The non-metallic silk colors are gold, black, grays, blue-gray, maroon, light purple. The metallic isn't the overly-shiny kind; it's a bit subtle. This obi is 12" wide and 158" long. The first 101", which is about 2.8 yards, is the design. Then 42" of plain black thick semi-shiny silk satin. Then 15" of the design. The back is all black. It's a classic, heavy, thick obi in such great condition it may be fairly new, barely worn. The last photo shows a peek of the back of the the brocade work. Not just the fabric, it's a wearable, fully constructed obi and weighs about 1.6 pounds. 100% Silk and metallic. Japan.
