Hidden Flower-Bird from Japan, Vintage Handwoven Tsumugi with Navy Print, Silk By the Yard # 293

A unique kimono fabric; an overdyed Tsumugi. The print is beautifully, perfectly executed with a print of lush tropical, Balinese-look flowers, with flower-birds appearing every 10" or so, if you can find them - see the photo with the chopstick, as well as in the center of the first photo. The background has darker blue fine gridlines, adding depth to the navy. On the reverse side, the print barely comes through so it's basically off-white. This silk is exceptionally soft, softer than it looks, almost like raw silk flannel, classic Tsumugi handweave with some slubby texture and variations in fiber width.  Thin, light, supple, very fine quality.  14" wide and sold by the full yard, we'll cut yours in one piece from the never-used, excellent condition vintage bolt. 100% Silk.
