This is an obi that is like flexible silky metal.  Blended shades of silver, gunmetal tones, teals, blues, pinks, green-golds.  It's alive with sheen, probably has real metal fibers woven in with with the silk, and most likely hand-painted with Bokashi technique. The blends are smooth and 'blurred' - no sharp lines between colors; if you see sharp lines in the photos, it's just reflections, sheen and/or fold lines. The base silk also has a subtle crackle look which is a jacquard, adding a look of texture, almost like scratched metal? without being textured. We've never seen fabric quite like it. This obi is 12" wide and 159" long.  The first 96" is the design. Then 49" of solid heavy navy, thick semi-shiny silk satin. Then 14" of the metallic design. The back is all the navy silk. It's a heavy, thick obi in great condition other than the strong fold lines. We see no fading or discoloration, tears, etc. We assume 100% Silk and metallic. Weighs about 1.3 pounds.  Japan.  Stunning.
