Red, Blue, Silver and Gold Large Roses Vintage Obi, Heavy Thick Silk and Metallic from Japan #222

This is a completed obi with dynamic, bright fantasy roses on black, with lots of very bright silver and gold metallic brocade work. Unfortunately the photos don't capture the intensity of the gold and silver but where you see grays, that's silver and where you see light brown, that's the gold. It's 12" wide and 159" long.  The first 14" is the roses design and a 1" black border. Then 46" of plain black shiny, heavy silk satin. Then 99" of the roses design and the 1" black border. It's a classic, heavy, thick obi and has been worn; we see two areas with spots, indicated with chopstick. Otherwise it's in excellent condition.  Not just the fabric, it's a wearable obi and weighs almost 2 pounds largely because of the metallic thread which is heavy and there's so much of it.  Japan.
