Navy Buds and Blossoms Ikat, Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan By the Yard #285

There are no labels but to us this vintage kimono silk seems handwoven. It's soft and cottony-feeling silk, similar to Tsumugi or maybe true Tsumugi; it's not sleek but matte. Thin, with a bit of body and no drape, the same on both sides, the whole design is done in the difficult blue and cream silk ikat weave. It is a bit slubby, and there's a wee bit of red in the weave occasionally, adding a subtle purply look that makes the design even prettier.  It looks to us like blossoms, leaves or buds on long stems, or maybe floating through the currents of a pond.  14" wide and sold by the full yard; we'll cut yours in a continuous piece. 100% Silk.
