Charcoal Handloom Ikat, Wavy Lines + Diamonds Kimono Silk from Japan By the Yard #236

Black and charcoal, with lighter wavy lines, some with diamonds inside. This silk was handwoven at home, not in a factory - per our translation program, "hobby silk" - and is slightly rustic with some slubs and variance in silk thread thickness.  Thin and light, with a bit of crispness that we're guessing would soften if gently cold-water washed.  No shine or drape. A true ikat, both sides are the same. It reads as quite dark. There are probably some glorious 'imperfections' in the weave. Hopefully. 14" wide and sold by the full yard, yours will be in one piece cut from the never-used, excellent condition bolt. Age unknown but possibly not extremely old; the labels are in good shape and look rather modern. 100% Silk. Japan.  Exceptional.
