Solid Off-White/Natural White Textured Mid-Weight Vintage Handwoven Obi Silk from Japan, 4-7/8 Yard BOLT #830

Pure silk, thick but not as thick, stiff or heavy as many obi silks, this one is more supple, almost the weight of light denim. The silk fibers are varying thicknesses adding gorgeous high end texture to this beautiful quality silk woven in Nishijin Japan, known for its long history of highest quality silk weaving. Front and back are the same. This is fabric for obi, not a ready-to-wear obi.  We see the color as warm off-white, lighter than what we call ivory. We assume it's natural un-dyed, unbleached, possibly raw silk. The first 12" is a bit dirty and some of the edges are discolored from age, but otherwise it's in great condition. 12" wide and 4 - 7/8  yards long., so 12" x 174". 100% Silk, Japan.  Stunning and hard to come by in our opinion. Order "1" for the bolt, which weighs 14 ounces.
