Gold/Red Stripe Satin Raincoat Silk, Vintage Kimono Yarn-Dye from Nishijin Japan By the Yard #564

Only 13 left!

Shiny, color-blended stripes. In some lighting conditions the background is rich golden ochre, but move it a bit and the reds, olives or browns may seem brighter. Trying to describe it makes us a bit tongue tied; it is exquisite, unique, sleek, soft and aglo. Thin and light, pure shine, yarn dyed and beautiful on both sides. The long label in the last photo has a raincoat kimono cutting diagram. 15" wide, which is extra wide in Japan, and sold by the full yard, yours will be in one piece cut from the never-used, excellent condition vintage bolt. 100% Silk. Japan.  A treasure.

Nishijin Heritage Status: Formally designated as a traditional craft by the Japanese government, authentic Nishijin Textiles are strictly controlled by the local union and historically has supplied the Imperial Court for over a thousand years.
