Handwoven Jinba Tsumugi Silk, nearly black deep dark indigo blue, soft, sleek, thin, mid-weight, lustrous, a bit slubby-textured. Jinba Tsumugi is known as high end Tsumugi in Japan and this bolt is probably from the 1970's, originally intended for a long men's kimono and pants ensemble, so it's around 22 yards. It looks to be in excellent condition but we haven't opened it. It's 15" wide, a bit wider than most kimono silks. The unopened, never used, folded bolt is 15" x 5" x 2" and weighs about 35 ounces. An excellent price for many yards of gorgeous vintage silk, probably indigo dyed and certainly hand woven. Order "1" for the 22-yard bolt, with its labels, border and fringe of course. 100% Tsumugi Silk. Japan.
