Black and off-white stripes made from teeny tiny geometrically arranged triangles, squares, rectangles and dots, divided by a fine line swerving slowly through the bolt, not centered. Incredibly supple, flowy, soft, light, liquid drape Tango Chirimen silk. Technically a crepe weave, but the twist and the fineness of the yarn makes it much smoother, more sleek and less textured than typical chirimen. This is a hallmark of Tango chirimen. 14" wide and sold by the full yard; we'll cut yours in a continuous piece from the beautiful condition, never used bolt. 100% Silk. Japan.

Tango Chirimen originated around 1720 during the Edo period. It's made from very fine silk and expert artisans and is beloved in Japan for its suppleness and quality.  The Tango Textile Industrial Association oversees its heritage and production quality, with historical manufacturing districts like the Chirimen Kaido in Yosano designated as Japan Heritage sites.
