Sashiko Oshima Tsumugi Silk Whole Bolt, Extraordinary Kimono Silk from Japan By the BOLT #840
A still-tied bolt of rare, incredibly beautiful Tsumugi Silk Sashiko Oshima Matsutake. This is our first experience with a silk called Sashiko Oshima, which must be a reference to the ornate silk work in partial rows about every 5" to 7", that indeed does look like embroidery. How it was achieved, we're not sure, but this silk is one of the finest we've had. It should probably be in a museum and if no one buys it, we may have to create a museum for it :) The best of the best Oshima; supple, impossibly lustrous, finely woven with multiple complex techniques, in glowing bronze-brown-taupe that may take your breath away. So smooth and sleek, as Oshima is known for. 14" wide and most likely 12.3 yards, it's still tied closed. As you can see our photographer is in love and tried to extend the photo session. Our copywriter flirted with the words Religious Experience. 100% Silk. Japan. Exceptional.
