Purple Komon Dot Print of Interlocking Ovals Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan By the Yard #PA-13
Dusty purple and off-white are the only colors; the entire pattern is made with dots, a traditional dyeing technique for kimono silk called Komon in Japan. The interlocking ovals and diamonds have an almost stars-and-planets look. The off-white dots are of various sizes and the detail is fabulous. This silk is thin, light, supple, flowy and soft, with excellent drape, no shine and no body. It's as drapey as many of Japan's chirimen crepe silks are, but the weave is flatter and smoother. 14" wide and sold by the full yard, we'll cut yours in one piece from the excellent-condition vintage bolt. 100% Silk. Japan.
