Purple Fireworks Vintage Meisen Kimono Silk Pieces from Japan, 13" x 62" # ZP-19

Deep purple, with white, coral, sage and ochre. This vintage kimono silk has the classic, desirable, intentional "Meisen Blur", feathered edges where the colors meet. Not a print, this is a true ikat, and both sides are just the same. It was woven with thin, fine silk. These pieces are from a dis-assembled kimono. Pure silk in great condition except for one selvedge, which has tiny snips from the previous kimono construction, shown clearly in the last three photos. The other selvedge is light blue and is fine. We see no stains, fading or other problems. This silk is thin and light, and a bit crisp. It's an almost sleek, quite smooth, silky-feeling type of Meisen. Being pure silk it's light: each piece weighs only 1.5 ounces.  An artisan created vintage Meisen, probably 1930's-50's.  Sold per 13" x 62" Piece. 100% Silk. Japan.
