Navy / White Flying Cranes? Kasuri, Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan, True Oshima By the Yard #542
The weave is just navy and white, with thousands of tiny white symbols that may be four-petaled flowers, or flying cranes, or?? All done in the weave; it's a gorgeous kasuri ikat. This silk is thin, soft, mid-lightweight, supple, and a little drapey. It doesn't have sheen or body. Both sides look and feel the same. This is a vintage, never used silk. The bolt has been carefully stored for many decades and is in excellent condition. 14" wide, sold by the full yard. We'll cut yours in one continuous piece. The label reads Oshima Pure Silk, so it's most likely mud dyed and hand woven. Age unknown. 100% Silk. Japan.
