Muted Purple/Black Dynamic Currents Ikat Vintage Kimono Silk 14.5" x 77" Piece #737

Swirling black currents circling dramatically through rustic purple silk. This ikat must have taken great skill to produce; the currents whirl gracefully in random rounded motions, thicker and thinner, all created in the weave; this isn't a print. 100% silk, slubby, with a beautiful texture, in dark, black-kissed purple.  It's tightly woven, mid-weight and thin, very soft, a bit crispy with a little body and a matte finish. It seems like raw silk, like noil with body. This is a true ikat and both sides look the same. This silk was sold by the full yard from the never-used, excellent condition, vintage bolt. This is the last of this, and it's 14.5" wide and 77" long; a few inches over 2 yards.   Order "1" for the piece.
