The leaf (bamboo? hemp? other?)  and swirling water symbols appear throughout the bolt about 10" apart, in different positions across the width and never exactly the same as this bolt is clearly hand woven. The weave is reminiscent of chambray; the effect is muted red, with the addition of cream skinny stripes randomly showing up. We think the warp is cream and the weft is dark burgundy-red. This silk is thin and mid-weight, with bounce and body, no drape and no shine. It's soft and textured, and being a true ikat, both sides are the same. 14" wide and sold by the full yard; we'll cut yours in one piece from the never used, beautiful condition, vintage bolt. 100% Silk. Japan.
