Vintage chirimen crepe silk with birds, bamboo, fans, chrysanthemums. This true bingata is done with stencils, using a rainbow of deep colors, all blended by hand.  A lovely complex bingata, drapey, supple, pebbly-surfaced chirimen crepe; see the last two photos with close-ups of the crepe texture. A pale ecru-ivory background/base silk, with no shine at all and a dry matte finish; classic vintage chirimen that we love. The colors have all seeped through to the back but they're not as crisp. 27" repeat with 2 or 3 birds per repeat and around 4-7 per 65" piece.  Excellent condition from a dis-assembled kimono. 100% Silk. Japan. Gorgeous.
