Magenta/Turquoise on Blue Feather Stripe Ikat, Lightweight Cotton Handloom from India, By the Yard #TK-20
100% cotton from India. True double ikat in dark magenta, turquoise blue, on a background of chambray-look navy and white crossdye. Thin and light, not a tight weave, much lighter in weight than quilting cotton, about 2.5 ounces per 42" wide yard, hand loomed, as light as voile, soft and slightly see-through. There may be a few charming inconsistencies and none of the feathers or stripes will exactly match since this is a true hand woven ikat. There may be tiny knots, thread pulls or uneven lines - such as the white stripe in the last photo - not flaws but fingerprints. Every irregularity is a whisper from the hands that made it. It’s what happens when tradition weaves through time, not machines. If you’re looking for perfection, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for soul you’ve found it. Both sides are the same.
100% Cotton, about 42" wide and sold by the full yard. The stripes run with the selvedges through the length, and the ikat designs are about 38" of the 42" width; the borders along the selvedge are each about 2" of just the background blue.
