Tenugui Book with Kabuki, "Story of Japan" Cotton Fabric Picture Book from Japan
It's a fabric book from Japan, made from a cotton tenugui towel! Per our translation program: "Kabuki Edition Tenugui Book. Story of Japan" "Book of Japanese Matters." "When you untie the string, this will be one hand towel." Yours will come with all those labels shown, including the little diagrams of the folded, and all the way opened, towel, which we assume is 13" x 34". You'll get the 3.5" x 6.5" book, still tied with red string in two spots, ready to be opened to the long horizontal Kabuki scenes shown in the second photo. (!!) Finding this was a happy accident and we'll try to get more.
It's made from a Tenugui towel, 100% lightweight cotton, which feels a bit like quilting cotton or muslin. We're assuming the towel, if opened, has two long selvedge edges and two short unfinished edges but we don't know for sure. New not vintage, 100% Cotton. Japan.
Per the maker: "Our tenugui fabric is made using an environmentally conscious refining process and does not contain fluorescent dyes, so dark colors may fade slightly. Also, the colors may become discolored if left wet or stacked with other items. Please do not use chlorine-based bleach."
