Leaf Study Vintage Meisen Kimono Silk Pieces from Japan, 13" x 59" #ZP-35

Black, gray red, off-white and a bit of tan. This vintage kimono silk has lots of the classic, desirable, intentional "Meisen Blur", feathered edges where the colors meet. Not a print, this is a true ikat, and both sides are just the same. It was woven with thin, fine silk. These pieces are from a dis-assembled kimono. It's in good condition except for the notches on the edges as you can see. This silk is thin and light, soft, quite smooth. Pretty much no drape. (Classic Meisen). Each piece weighs only 1.4 ounces.  An artisan created vintage Meisen, probably 1930's-50's.  Sold per 13" x 59" Piece. 100% Silk. Japan.
