Earth Tones Currents and Flowers Handwoven Certified Oshima Tsumugi Vintage Kimono Silk From Japan 14" x 78" PIECE #282
Oshima Tsumugi Silk. Soft hues of red, green, gold and blue combine with ivory, black and dark browns in this stunning true ikat from Oshima Japan. Sleek, soft and smooth, handwoven. Thin, lightweight, a bit crisp, not truly shiny, it's lustrous and exceptional as Oshima Tsumugi silks nearly always are. Both sides are just the same. The dyer probably used local plants and mud. Oshima Tsumugi is one of the most cherished types of kimono silks in Japan, and kimonos made with it often are passed down for generations and are said to become softer and even more comfortable and beautiful with time. Labels read "Oshima Tsumugi" and "Koshiji Oshima Tsumugi" "100% Silk". The labels and fringe portion has sold, but is shown here for your reference.
This is a 14" wide x 78" long piece (So, 2 yards plus 6") from the unused, vintage, excellent condition bolt. 100% Silk. Japan. Exceptional.
