Modern Science Vintage Meisen Kimono Silk Pieces from Japan, 14" x 57" # ZP-18

The gray is a bit towards steel blue-gray; the bright red and yellow are classic primary colors. The background is a series of rows and columns of fine lines, yellow, lighter gray, and a little red, all done in the weave.  The groups of characters cross from side to side and the repeat is about 22".  A true ikat, woven with thin, fine silk, both sides are just the same. These pieces are in near-pristine condition; we see no stains, fading or other problems. Very thin and light, and a bit crisp. Last photo shows a whole piece but the other photos are truer to color. Being pure silk it's light: each piece weighs less than 2 ounces.  Artisan created vintage Meisen, 1930's-50's. Sold per 14" x 57" Piece. 100% Silk. Japan.
