Large Crane Flying, Tenugui Towel from Japan, 100% Cotton 13.5" x 36"
Navy blue crane, caramel background and white clouds. The second photo shows the entire towel, which is 100% cotton, thin and light, and is much like lightweight quilting cotton or muslin. Tenugui are quick-drying, easy to take anywhere, absorbent but not thick or fluffy. In Japan, Tenugui towels may be used as hand towels, dish towels, scarves, napkins, souvenirs, wrapping cloths, placemats, trivets, bento wrapping, head bands, ear warmers, wall hangings, table runners, head wraps, aprons, cleaning and drying ceramics, art, jewelry, babies, other people and things... or made into clothing of course. The long edges are the selvedges; they won't fray. The top and bottom edges are unfinished. Finish them if you like, or leave them as is and trim the threads off as they fray, as is usually done in Japan - we're told that over time they will fray less, and become softer and more absorbent. The print is the same on both sides, vibrant and strong, so your crane can fly either direction. New not vintage, 100% Cotton. Japan.
Per the maker: "Our tenugui fabric is made using an environmentally conscious refining process and does not contain fluorescent dyes, so dark colors may fade slightly. Also, the colors may become discolored if left wet or stacked with other items. Please do not use chlorine-based bleach."
