Eggplant Vintage Meisen Kimono Silk Pieces from Japan, 13.5" x 54" # ZP-17

Deep, dark eggplant purple, with off-white, bright golden yellow, and teal. Large woven 'crosses' (?) are spaced a few inches apart and have very feathered edges as they blend with the eggplant.  A true ikat, both sides are just the same, woven with thin, fine silk. These pieces are from a dis-assembled kimono. Pure silk in excellent, beautiful condition; we see no stains, fading or other problems. Very thin and light, and a bit crisp. It's an almost sleek, silky-feeling type of Meisen.  Being pure silk it's light: each piece weighs less than 2 ounces.  An artisan created vintage Meisen, probably 1930's-50's.
