5 yards Vintage Obi Silk from Japan: Black Shiny Swirls on Sheer Featherweight Stripe, Unusual, Light #226
Giant swirls are embroidered with silver, shiny silk that almost looks wet. Every fifth swirl also has a top layer of a bronze color combined with the embroidery, somehow, and is even more dynamic and shiny. All the swirls flash in the light - they're very iridescent and almost impossible to photograph well; sorry. The entire 5 + yards of base fabric is true black, very light, crisp, sheer stripe silk, creating even more light play and joyous confusion. The stripes are solid and between them isn't sheer, or possibly not as sheer? It's true black, no warm or cool cast. This is obi silk; it's 13.5" wide, fancy and dynamic as most obi fabric is. The first 46" is plain sheer black stripe with no swirls, then 91" with swirls, then 50" of plain sheer black stripe silk with no swirls. It's in excellent conditon, never used. Order "1' for the 7-ounce (very light) bolt. Like most vintage silk obi fabric, it's probably one of a kind. Japan! Whew! 100% Silk.
