Vintage Tropical Wowza, Meisen Kimono Silk Piece, 13" x 84" from Japan # ZP-38

Oversized leaves in black, off-white, pink, very dark green, gold, light blue, olive, and several grays. This silk has Meisen's traditional, desirable blur.  Both sides are just the same, and it's a true ikat, woven with thin, fine silk. There are wonderful thin streaks made by threads of gray and other colors, coming and going in various strengths in the background; like rain or mist or just beauty.  Quite thin and light, and a little crisp, with no sheen. This is the somewhat cottony-feeling type of Meisen. One selvedge is teal, the other is the off-white background color. It does have some fold lines from some of the former seam lines.  An artisan created vintage treasure, from a kimono probably 1930's-50's.  13" wide.  It's 84" long, which is 2-1/3 yards.  100% Silk. Japan. Fantastic and soulful.
