Remnant, Cabernet Turmeric Sunset Iridescent Kimono Silk 14" x 39" Piece #323
A truly astounding, unique silk that may take your breath away, with its colors and the way they blend, its softness, its glow and complexity. It changes from sunset orange tones to deep wines and reds, to saffron, rust, turmeric and paprika - all colors hot and exotic are in this weave. The colors shift and change in color and intensity depending on angle and light. Its very soft, very textured, a bit thick but not heavy; more like 'fluffy' because of the slub - not sleek or shiny at all. There are woven cloud-like outlines, and dark red flowers. I, who can talk for hours about fabric, was caught wordless when I saw this silk. It doesn't have the Tsumugi certification label but it seems like Tsumugi, and seems handwoven from raw wild silk. Both sides look and feel the same. This is the last from the vintage, excellent condition, maybe quite old, probably hand woven and hand dyed, never used bolt of 100% silk from Japan. the 39" length includes the gorgeous label, border and fringe!
