Several blues, lots of black, and dark combine to create this geometric ikat from Japan. It's unusual in its texture: the silk and cotton combine to create a crisp, light, not silky-soft, slightly sheer, linen-like feel. Also, there's a label mystery, which is rare in old Japanese kimono fabrics.  The large label reads warp 100% silk and weft 100% cotton. The other, smaller label reads warp 100% silk and weft 70% cotton and 30% silk.  The weave is a bit open and quite textured, with a dry hand. It's not smooth, not shiny. The overall color reads as dark, deep rich stunning midnight with lots of black, plus dark red, light and dark blue starbursts (?) tucked into many of the octagons.  A true ikat, both sides are the same.  Label reads Authentic Tsumugi. 14" wide and sold by the full yard; we'll cut yours in one piece from the never-used, excellent condition, most likely handwoven, mud and indigo dyed, one of a kind, vintage bolt. Japan.
