Blue/White Trees and Hills on Black, Dupioni-Like Vintage Kimono Silk Ikat from Japan By the Yard #308

The background is deepest black, (not blue; sorry about some of the photos) - very even and rich and contrasty with the art. The trees, some small and some much larger, some silvery white and some blue, all created with ikat, seem to contour with the hills, and sometimes disappear into the distance, in arcs. This silk is much like what we know as slightly slubby shantung or dupioni, sleek, light, soft, elegant, high end and finely woven. I's better, fancier, than the photos. An extraordinary, difficult, true ikat, both sides are the same. 14" wide and sold by the full yard; we'll cut yours in one piece from the never used, beautiful condition, vintage bolt. It's black, not dark blue. The kimono shop's old price tag is still attached and this bolt was priced at 120,000 yen which is about $780. 100% Silk. Japan.
