Brick Red with Off-White Ikat Symbols, Textured Vintage Kimono Silk from Japan By the Yard...Bamboo Leaf? #307
Woven with just dark red and off-white, and ikat symbols appearing through the bolt about 10" apart, in different positions across the width and changing which way they read. It may be a bamboo leaf on a pond with the swirl being the current in the water. (Just guessing). The weave is reminiscent of chambray, with the addition of cream skinny stripes randomly showing up. Looks like the warp is cream the weft is dark burgundy-red. This silk is thin and mid-weight, with bounce and body, no drape and no shine. It's soft and textured, and being a true ikat, both sides are the same. 14" wide and sold by the full yard; we'll cut yours in one piece from the never used, beautiful condition, vintage bolt. 100% Silk. Japan.
