Very Old Silk Crepe Print from Japan, Pheasants, Piece 13" x 53" #ZP-15
Traditional Japanese flowers and large ornate pheasants, in a lush silk kimono print probably from the 1930's-40's. This silk crepe is a bit crisp, and for its age in pretty good condition but as you can see there is some age-related spotting and fold lines from the previous seams, most visible in the last photo, but no tears or serious issues in our opinion. (We like the flaws; they add to the beauty and soul of this silk.) Light, soft, a little translucent, a bit crisp but also a bit drapey, supple. It's clearly old, in a good way. The pink looks almost dusty rose but with an antique feel. Each piece has three complete birds. We have two pieces from this kimono; you may buy one or both. It seems older than it is, to us. A treasure. Art. 100% Silk. Japan. Sold per piece.
