WHOLE BOLT OF OBI SILK: Black and Invisible Silver Jacquard, Stiff Ornate Heavy Thick Plant-Dyed Silk from Japan #151

 Because of the intense shiny silver-black design, it reflects so much light that it's challenging the camera. The background is heavy blackest black, glistening silk satin. The design is silver:  large diamonds, chrysanthemums, currents on the ponds... all nature, all large, and on most of the bolt. It's created with jacquard, using a plant dye on those threads, and perhaps on the black also, if our translation program is correct. (There is reference to a species of geranium used in the dyeing.) We've made one of the photos purple to show more detail.  There's no gray; it's all blackest black plus the silver design that disappears sometimes depending on the light, hidden by the black of the weave. Opulent and gorgeous, it's in excellent condition, clearly never used and carefully stored.  It has the original dark green wrapper, with lots of descriptive information as you can see. This obi fabric is 13.75" wide and about 190" long.  About half of the bolt has the design and the rest is plain heavy black satin. It's about a pound of silk. Order "1' for the bolt. Age? We think it may be fairly new. 100% Silk. Japan.
