Kimono silk in rich, tomato red. This matelasse/fukureori is very textured, drapey, light and supple. Its weave is a complex jacquard that almost looks like embroidery or quilting; the outlines of the spirals are raised, and there are various intricate, tightly woven stitches. Yet the color is all the same. It has a soft sheen on the front, and the back is less dimensional and more matte. Soft and flowy, supple, lightweight, gorgeous vintage kimono silk from a former life as a kimono, probably from the 1970's. It's in excellent condition after being taken apart stitch by stich in Japan. We only have this one piece; it's 14" wide and 48/49" long. The last photo shows the whole piece. 100% Silk. Japan.
