Lovebirds and Rosebuds with Blue, "Old Lace" Japanese Crinkled Print, Kimono Silk Piece 14" x 41" #281

  • $25.00

Kimono silk print in soft, muted steel blues, dusty rose, ecru. The art seems inspired by heirloom embroidery, ribbon work, paintings of lace and needlework... it's unique, detailed and intriguing. It looks dimensional, photographic. We have no idea how or when this beauty was created, but Japan never ceases to amaze. The base silk is a bit on the heavy side for kimono silk, with a little body, lots of texture, almost no drape, and very deep crepe 'rivulets'.  It has a dry hand and no shine at all.  It was once part of a kimono, is in excellent condition after being taken apart stitch by stitch in Japan.  This piece is 14" wide and 41" long. The birds appear twice, 29" apart. The last 2 photos show the whole 41" long piece. 100% Silk. Japan.  We have 2 available; buy one or both.  Unusual, layered-look and beautiful.
